DOJ chief not keen on Quiboloy house arrest

Justice Secretary Boying Remulla is not keen on the idea of placing Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy under house arrest.

“As far as I remember, yung mga binibigyan ng house arrest yung mga hindi nag resist o kaya pumayag kaagad na maaresto,” Remulla recently told reporters.

“Yung mga nanago at nagpahirap sa gobyerno, madalang tayo magbigay ng house arrest sa mga taong ito,” he also said.

Quiboloy is facing charges of child abuse and human trafficking. He was arrested on September 8 following a month-long manhunt.

Remulla was reacting after the camp of Quiboloy floated the idea to put the self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” under house arrest.

Last Monday, the Department of National Defense rejected a motion to have the religious leader transferred from the custody of the Philippine National Police to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Quiboloy is set for arraignment at the Pasig City Regional Trial today, September 13.
