Bato: Why should I hide behind someone’s skirt?

Why hide behind somebody’s skirt when your words cannot kill me?

Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa posed this question on Monday in response to   Antipolo City Rep. Romeo Acop’s  remark that he should not hide behind the skirt of  Vice President Sara Duterte.

“My response to Cong Acop: You and me were both raised by the same Academy. You and me both served the same branch of service. All I can say sir is: I am alright sir!” Dela Rosa said in a statement.

“I did not hide behind the skirt of my mother when I fought the terrorists and the insurgents with bullets flying all over, then why should I hide from somebody’s skirt now knowing that your words can not kill me?”  he added.

Dela Rosa is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class of 1986 while  Acop belongs to the PMA Class of 1970.

Instead  of hiding behind Duterte’s skirt, Acop urged Dela Rosa  over the weekend  to just address the allegations against him in connection with the  war on drugs during the time of  then President Rodrigo Duterte.

As then police chief, Dela Rosa  spearheaded the bloody war on drugs  during the previous administration.

The alleged abuses  committed during the drug war  waged by the Duterte administration are among the issues  being  investigated by the  House of Representatives’ quad committee.

However, Dela Rosa earlier viewed the House probe as a “demolition job” targeting VP  Duterte’s possible presidential bid in 2028.
