BI arrests Chinese woman working as cashier

Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives  arrested on Monday a Chinese woman working illegally as a cashier.

The woman, identified only as “Chen,” 46, worked in a Chinese grocery store along Quirino Avenue in Barangat Tambo, Parañaque City.

She possessed a valid working visa issued to the BI, but was petitioned by a different company.

“Foreign nationals with working visas are not allowed to work for any other company apart from the one that petitioned their visa,” said BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr.

“Working for another company is a violation of the conditions of their stay,” he added.

Chen was immediately arrested and brought to the BI’s office in Intramuros for booking and medical examination.

After inquest, she was transferred to the  Camp Bagong Diwa where she will stay until the resolution of her deportation case.
