A measure seeking to prohibit the physical reservation of parking spaces has been filed in the House of Representatives.
House Bill No. 11076, or the Mindful Parking Act, was filed by Akbayan Rep. Percival Cendaña. The bill aims to establish a law to prevent tensions surrounding the physical reservation of parking spaces.
Cendaña stated that it is necessary to regulate the use of parking spaces to ensure fairness and protect everyone involved.
“It is necessary to regulate the use of limited spaces and resources to promote fairness among users and protect them from harm,” said Cendaña.
The proposal states that anyone who violates the law will be subject to fines.
“The penalties include a P2,000 fine for the first offense, a P5,000 fine and six-month driver’s license suspension for the second offense, and a P10,000 fine with license revocation for the third offense,” insisted the lawmaker.
Businesses are also required to implement policies regarding this issue, with penalties ranging from P10,000 to P50,000 for non-compliance.
