BOC intercepts P6.8-M worth of illegal drugs

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported the interception of parcels containing illegal drugs worth P6,839,560 at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City on September 12.

The BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport said a thorough physical examination of the seized parcels revealed a total of 4,877 grams of kush (high-grade marijuana) from four parcels.

Authorities also found seven vape cartridges containing cannabis oil with an estimated street value of P11,760.

All confiscated drugs are now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Consignees will be subjected to further investigation and charged with violations under Republic Act No. (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting the country from illegal substances.

“Our resolve to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the Philippines is stronger than ever. This operation highlights our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our communities,” said Rubio.
