Quiboloy’s arrest ain’t an easy task: Remulla

The apprehension of Kingdom of Jesus Christ fugitive founder Apollo Quiboloy is “a testament to the professionalism and commitment of our State forces in the performance of their duties,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said.

Quiboloy, who has been in hiding for months, surrendered to Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Maj. Gen. Edmundo Peralta on September 8.

He has a existing arrest warrants for child sexual abuse and human trafficking.

“This development is a testament to the professionalism and commitment of our State forces in the performance of their duties, you have always been our devoted partner in upholding the rule of law since day one,” said Remulla.

The secretary said Quiboloy’s apprehension “was never an easy task from the get-go considering the overwhelming support, influence, wealth and power of Quiboloy.”

“State forces were pushed to their limits yet they never deviated within the bounds of law and maintained legality in their every move until this whole hide-and-seek game with Quiboloy has come to an end,” he added.

Remilla vowed that the Department of Justice “will faithfully follow due process in prosecuting Quiboloy so his conditions for his detention will no longer be relevant.”

The religious leader will be tried first in the Philippines for crimes committed here, the DOJ said. If convicted, he will serve his sentence before being extradited to the United States, if requested.
