Norman Tansingco will be replaced as Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Department of Justice revealed on Monday.

In a media interview, Justice Secretary Boying Remulla said that he asked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to relieve him.

“I am not satisfied. Marami kaming naging problema,” according to Remulla.

He urged Tansingco to resign, saying that he and Marcos Jr. had already agreed.

“Papalitan siya, papalitan siya. If I were him, I’d resign already. Mag resign na lang siya,” the secretary said.

Earlier, Remulla admitted that he’s no longer in communication with the BI chief.

Tansingco should have informed him immediately when dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo and her companions escaped the country, he said.

“Kasi nung nangyari ito, hindi naman niya ako sinabihan agad eh. Marahil alam niya na matagal ‘yan bago ko nalaman. Kaya hindi na kami nag-uusap. Hindi tama ‘yung ganung klaseng asal.”
