MANILA, Philippines — The Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot (KBKK) announced on Wednesday that nationwide protests are set for November 30 at Luneta, EDSA, and other key locations, demanding stronger government action amid the investigation into flood control project anomalies.
The group credited Filipinos for sustained civic engagement following the September 21 anti-corruption rallies, and said the upcoming protest aims to push for a comprehensive, independent, and transparent investigation.
“Everyone involved — from DPWH, DBM, and ICI officials, contractors, district engineers, to lawmakers and high-ranking officials — should undergo a swift and transparent probe. No one should be protected,” KBKK said.
The group stressed that resignation alone is not enough. They are calling for criminal and civil cases against those responsible, restitution of misused funds, and systemic reforms including:
- Abolition of the pork barrel in all forms
- Ban on lump sum and illegal budget insertions
- Real-time disclosure of all government projects and contracts
- Strengthened citizen participation in budgeting and project monitoring
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will maintain full alert status to ensure safety and order during the planned demonstrations.
